Use of the bioinformatics computers is subject to the University rules on student use of computing and electronic communication facilities (http://www.infonet.unsw.edu.au/poldoc/rulcomp.htm). Note especially that these computers should be used only for activities related to University teaching, learning and research. Any other use is in breach of university policies and may lead to disciplinary action as documented in the university policy.

In addition, these computers are primarily for use for the study of bioinformatics. Use for other courses is tolerated but not encouraged, and students using these computers for bioinformatics work have priority over students using them for work in other courses, including computer science courses, since computers are provided for this purpose by the School of Computer Science and Engineering.
